If you arrive in Prague by car, you will probably need a car park where you can leave your vehicle, be it a car or a van/camper, in a safe and controlled car park.

However, you can leave your car in roadside car parks; the centre of Prague is divided into 3 parking zones:

If you leave your car parked on the street, make sure that you have not left any valuables in sight that might attract the attention of burglars. Car theft and burglary are frequent in Prague and often target foreign cars.

Parking Park & Ride

An excellent way to park your car in Prague is to leave it in one of the guarded car parks on the outskirts and use public transport (e.g. Skalka, Zlicín, Nové Butovice, Radlická, Opatov, Rajská zahrada, Cerný most, Nádraží Holešovice). The purpose of these car parks is to encourage people to use public transport and thus improve the poor traffic conditions in the centre. These car parks are guarded, cost only 10 Kc for the entire day, and close at the end of the metro service.

The P + R car parks are located at the following metro stations:
Line A – Skalka station
Line B – Zlicín station
Line B – Nové Butovice station

Prohibited parking

You will often find cars parked along the road in Prague, but be aware that such parking is not always permitted and the police are many and very careful. Forbidden parked cars can be blocked with clamps or removed. In the first case you have to pay a fine of several hundred crowns at the nearest police station, go back to your car and wait for them to unclamp it. In the second case, however, to retrieve the removed car, you have to go to the depot indicated by the police and pay the fine.
